Mikel submitted his study to the 8th Fisheries Scientific Conference of the DA-BFAR National Fisheries Research and Development Institute and ended up in the finals. His study, "Basin-scale population connectivity of mud crabs (Scylla) in the Sulu Sea Philippines: Potential importance to regional fishery management," was one of the top four submissions in the Capture Fisheries category and was presented this afternoon in Hotel Jen, Manila. Although he did not clinch the top prize, Mikel says his participation was a learning experience as it was his first oral presentation in a national conference.
Congrats pa rin, Mikel!
